TV Talk: Day 38

Tv show: MacGyver

Aired: September 29th, 1985 – May 21st, 1992

About: Richard Dean Anderson stars as Angus MacGyver who uses everyday objects as equipment to help him save the day. He also works for the US Government.

Would I recommend: Yes, I would. It’s awesome.

Other Info: There was also two tv movies. And a reboot made in 2016 which starred Lucas Till as a younger version of Angus MacGyver. I already covered the spinoff as well so not much else to add here.

TV Talk: Day 37

Tv show: Magnum P.I. (2018)

Aired: September 24th 2018 – Present

About: Jay Hernandez plays Thomas Sullivan Magnum in this reboot of the original show of the same name which starred Tom Selleck in the title role.

Would I recommend: I mean, if you want to see how the reboot is done then go ahead, but if you are a fan of the original show then I wouldn’t recommend it. There might be a reason you might not like the reboot either because you grew up with the original or just don’t feel like it is isn’t the same without the mustache Tom Selleck had in the original. For me, its okay but.. I prefer the original.

Other Info: If you want a gist of the show its about Thomas Sullivan Magnum as a P.I. (Private Investigator) solving cases in Hawaii. He stays at Robin Master’s estate with Jonathan Higgins (Original) and he also has two friends, T.C. (Theodore Calvin) and Rick Wright. In the reboot, Jonathan Higgins is re-written as a woman named Juliet Higgins. Kinda wondering how long this reboot will last.

TV Talk: Day 36

Tv Show: MacGyver (2016)

Aired: September 23rd, 2016 – Present

About: Lucas Till plays a younger version of Angus MacGyver. This is a reboot of the original show of the same name which starred Richard Dean Anderson in the title role.

Would I recommend: Yes, I would. It’s actually a good reboot.

Other Info: If you want a gist of the show, MacGyver (The Original and The Reboot) is pretty much about a man named Angus MacGyver using everyday objects as equipment and creating stuff out of those objects to help him save the day. And he also works for the US Government.

Extra Info: There was a planned spinoff called Young MacGyver in 2003 with Jared Padalecki but only the pilot was made. Yeah, sounds awesome now that I think about it. Who knew that information would be so cool to find out about.

TV Talk: Day 35

Tv show: Knight Rider 2008

Aired: February 17th, 2008 (TV Movie) September 24th, 2008 – March 4th, 2009 (Regular Series)

About: A Reboot of the 1982 show of the same name.

Would I recommend: If you are new to Knight Rider then yes. However, if you are a fan of the 1982 tv show then give it a watch and see for yourself. I have only seen the TV Movie of Knight Rider 2008.. and I watched a bit of it then stopped since it was bleh. I mean it was nice to hear a kinda okay mix of the Knight Rider Theme but other than that.. its just not Knight Rider without Michael Knight and the Original KITT.

Other Info: There was a TV Movie that was a backdoor pilot for the Knight Rider 2008 Reboot.

Additonal Info: In the TV Movie, Val Kilmer voices KITT and the car is a different model and brand.

TV Talk: Day 34

TV Show: The Saint

Aired: October 4th, 1962 – February 9th, 1969

About: Roger Moore plays Simon Templar, a man who helps people when conventional agencies are either powerless or unwilling to assist and protect. He often uses methods that are outside the law.

Would I recommend: Yes, if you like mystery spy thrillers. And don’t mind the black and white style. Later on it becomes color.

Other Info: In 1978 there was a revival called Return of The Saint, however the character was played by a different actor. There was also a tv movie, and also movies as well.

Additional Info: This show lasted 6 seasons.

TV Talk: Day 33

TV Show: Supernatural: The Animation

Aired: 2011

About: Same plot as the live action show but with some differences.

Would I recommend: Yes, if you are a fan of the live action show and want to see what Supernatural is like in anime form. You can find it on DVD. There is the Region 1 DVD and there is also a Japanese Version of the DVD.

Other Info: The anime has a happier ending than the live action show. Since the anime is only a mix of Season 1 and Season 2.

Extra Info: If you are interested to know, the English Dub has Jared voicing Sam for the whole season, while Jensen only voices Dean for the final two episodes. A different actor in the English Dub voices Dean from episodes 1-20. The Japanese Dub does not change the voice actors. There are also anime original episodes, and a episode based on the Supernatural comic book. Most of the original episodes from the live action show are renamed and changed slightly, so if you watch any of the episodes you will notice the differences between the live action show and the anime itself.

Oh and if you have the Region 1 DVD of Supernatural: The Animation you get to see Jared or Jensen, or both of them give the introduction for each episode. Also, if you have the Region 1 DVD you can hear Carry on wayward son by Kansas (Instrumental on the Menu Selection Screen and part of the song itself in the end credits for each episode) There is also a cover version of the song but I think that is only if you own the Japanese Version of the DVD. I could be wrong though but then again, who knows.

TV Talk: Day 32

Tv show: Constantine

Aired: October 24th, 2014 – February 13, 2015

About: John Constantine is a demon hunter who is also capable of using spells and magic he learned over the years. He helps people in any way that he can, and he also faces off against the supernatural threats as well.

Would I recommend: Yes, I would. Its kinda like Supernatural, but it is much more dark and mysterious.

Other Info: Due to low ratings, the show was cancelled. There was plans for a second season but that never emerged due to the low ratings from the First Season.

TV Talk: Day 31

Tv Show: M*A*S*H

Aired: September 17th, 1972 – February 28th, 1983

About: The show follows a team of Doctor’s and support staff that are stationed in the 4077th MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital Unit) in Korea.

Would I recommend: Yes, I would recommend the show.

Other Info: MASH had two spin off shows. The short lived AfterMASH and the successful spinoff Trapper John, M.D. There was also a pilot for another spin off called W*A*L*T*E*R but it was never picked up for a official series. The pilot was only shown on CBS and was never shown again. There was also a movie called M*A*S*H which was made two years earlier in 1970. So this show was adapted from the movie, and also based the book called M*A*S*H: A novel about three army doctors. One more fun fact. The show was created after an attempt to film the original book’s sequel M*A*S*H Goes to Maine failed.

TV Talk: Day 30

Tv show: Moonlighting

Aired: March 3rd, 1985 – May 14th, 1989

About: Blue Moon Detective Agency is a detective agency that solves cases with its two partners Madelyn “Maddy” Hayes and David Addison Jr. (Played by Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis respectively)

Would I recommend: For a show for its own time yes. It also breaks the fourth wall in some parts.

Other Info: Shows usually have 22 episodes but this show didn’t have all 22 episodes. The reasoning for this was because there were problems with the production, crew and producers themselves. Also, new episodes failed to air because of it. A low point for a show. Only 66 episodes were ever produced. Due to rating declines in the later seasons, the show was cancelled in 1989.

TV Talk: Day 29

Tv show: Knight Rider

Aired: September 26th, 1982 – April 4th, 1986

About: Michael Knight (Who was once Michael Long before he nearly got killed and had to have his face reconstructed) is a lone crusader fighting crime alongside a car named KITT who talks and helps out in any situation.

Would I recommend: Yes, I would. That theme song will get stuck in your head all day long.

Other Info: There was a spin off, three tv films, and two tv series.
